Huron’s Lien commits to track and field program at NSU

Posted

ABERDEEN — Huron senior Tyler Lien will be among 12 men and women to join the Northern State University track and field and cross country squads for the 2017-18 season.
The latest additions to the programs brings the incoming freshman class to 19 for NSU head coach Kevin Bjerke.

“Especially as we graduate a large senior class full of excellent leaders this spring, we are excited to be adding some outstanding talent and great people to next year’s roster,” Bjerke said. “A few of these student-athletes will instantly fill a few holes that could have developed, while others will add some excellent depth to our growing and improving roster.”
Lien, who is a three-year letter winner for the Tigers, competes in the 400- and 800-meter events. He has personal-best times of 51.00 seconds in the 400 and 2:07 in the 800, and also has helped Huron to state meet appearances in the 3,200 relay in 2015 and 2016.
Lien also participated in football and baseball this season for the Tigers.
Lien is the son of Josh and Crystal Lien, who both are former members of the Northern State track and field team. Josh was a member of the team for the Wolves, which holds the current school record in the 3,200 relay.
