The second 2020 “I Made a Difference” award was presented to Candis and Greg Askew, 1123 Illinois Ave. S.W.

The couple are shown with their son, Tristan. The Askew’s have recently moved in and completely redid their front yard landscaping. They also landscaped all the way around the house. They tore out all the weeds and overgrown beds and planted new flowers and plants, laid new mulch and framed it all with road ties. Candis decorated the landscape with many patriotic decorations for the holiday. They are also planning to paint the house and update the front steps next summer.

The couple received a flag from the VFW Post No. 1776 Auxiliary, gift certificates from Lewis Drug, East River Nursery and Dakota Provision; and a gift from Runnings. The “I Made a Difference” program is sponsored by the Huron Community Improvement Committee. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau or at the Parks and Recreation Department at the Campus Center. Nominations can also be found on Huron’s website or just send a note to Denise Matson at noelmatson@hur.midco.net.
