The first “I Made a Difference” award for 2019 was presented to Gene and Carrie Stocks, 675 Nebraska Ave. S.W. They have been working on the south elevation and entry at the east elevation of their home. Gene built the new wood entry door and made the stone stairs. He created stonework‘I Made a Difference’ award and brick trim at both the south and east elevations. The stones are not actual field stones, but are artistically made from cement and painted. They have also added new landscaping and a “Catio” for their indoor pet cats. Gene is still working on the north elevation of their home, using the field stone work.
Gene and Carrie received a flag from the VFW Post No. 1776 Auxiliary, gift certificates from Lewis Drug, East River Nursery and Dakota Provision; and a gift from Runnings. The “I Made a Difference” program is sponsored by the Huron Community Improvement Committee. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Recreation Department at the Campus Center. Nominations can also be found on Huron’s website or just send a note to Denise Matson at noelmatson@hur.midco.net. Fall is almost here, show your friends and neighbors that you have noticed how much they have improved their home and neighborhood.
