The first “I Made A Difference” award for 2017 was presented to Dave and Tonya Carlson, 670 Madison Blvd. S.E. They have recently put in a sprinkler system, reseeded their yard and put in a stamped concrete flower bed. Their backyard is comparable to an oasis getaway.
The second “I Made A Difference” award was presented to Steve and Jody Podhradsky, 1106 Frank Ave. S.E. Steve and Jody have replaced the fence around their yard, put in a sprinkler system for their lawn and added a brick walkway and patio in the backyard. They have put in lovely flowerbeds and many decorations around their fence. They also added a storage bin in the alley for garbage. Both winners received a flag from the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary Post 1776, gift certificates from Lewis, East River Nursery and Dakota Provisions, and a gift from Runnings.
The IMAD program is sponsored by the Huron Community Improvement Committee. Nomination forms can be picked up at the Park & Rec Department at the Huron Campus Center, found on the Huron website or text/call Denise Matson at 353-4301. You can also e-mail Denise at noelmatson@hur.midco.net
