Independent Insurance Association of S.D. Legislative Day held in Pierre

HURON — Staci Uzzle is one of Heartland Financial Services, Inc. “Young Agents” who attended the Independent Insurance Association of South Dakota Legislative Day in Pierre in January.
Uzzle attended the Legislative Open House which was attended by many of the legislators and several other young agents. This gave agents the opportunity to visit with legislators and discuss bills effecting the insurance industry.
The group also visited the Division of Insurance to gain knowledge on how their department functions.

Speaker of the House Mark Mickelson also spoke to the group about his duties. Agents sat in on the Commerce Committee meeting and heard debates on a bill regarding authorization of certain transactions and policies in a language other than English. 
Uzzle said this “was a great experience and she has developed a much greater appreciation for the entire legislative process.”
