DOLAND — Irwin H. Meier, 82, of rural Doland, passed away at home Friday, April 6, 2018, after a few months of illness.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, at Furness Funeral Home in Clark with a luncheon to follow in the funeral home reception area. Burial will follow in the Richland Cemetery near Carpenter. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and will continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Irwin Meier was born April 3, 1936,  at West Point, Neb. to Anton “Tony” and Christine (Koemann) Meier.  He moved with his family to Miller, Tulare and Doland. He graduated from the S.D. School for the Deaf in Sioux Falls in 1953.
He was united in marriage to Joan Dudley August 27, 1960 at Redfield. They lived, farmed and ranched on the same place since their marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Robert (Christine Reppe) Meier, and Eric Meier all of Doland; four grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gail Dudley of Watertown; and several other in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Meier; siblings, Joyce Zeglin and Dennis Meier; sister-in-law, Nona Meier; and nephew, James Meier; and other in-laws.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Furness Funeral Home of Clark.
