ABERDEEN — James E. Carpenter, 79, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, April, 16, 2018, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in Restlawn Memory Gardens at Huron. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Jim Carpenter was born June 6, 1938, in Hetland to Rollins and Florence Carpenter. He attended Terrell School in rural Yale until he was 11 and the family moved to Huron. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy April 26, 1957, and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1963.
He was a carpenter by trade and worked for Dakota Sash and Door in Huron. He was united in marriage to Connie Davis February 12, 1972, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Cavour. In 1981, the couple transferred to Aberdeen. He was employed by Zeller Brothers Construction and Jake’s Heating and Cooling.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Jason of Omaha, Neb., and Jennifer (Sam) Pate; grandchildren, Morgan and Mason of Bennington, Neb.; sister, Judy Jungmann; nephew, Rick Jungmann; niece Laurie Shelton all of Huron; niece, Kathy Grohs of Omaha, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Marge Gasseling and Laura Thomason; along with many other nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donna Baker, Naoma Manolis, and Russell and Richard Carpenter.
