HURON — James “Jim” Parker, 61, of Huron, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, at SunQuest Health Care Center.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 22, at the Salvation Army. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 21, at the Kuhler Funeral Home with his family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
James Edward Parker was born October 3, 1955, at Montebello, California to Weldon Dee Parker and Lucille (Barth) Parker. Jim grew up and received his education in California. While in California, he worked for Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm. Jim attended Huron College from 1986 to 1987. He played for the Huron College football team for two years and taught swimming.
On January 23, 1987, Jim married the love of his life, Carol Horn, at the Salvation Army in Huron.
Jim loved life. He was passionate about baseball and anyone who knew Jim, knew he bled “Dodger” Blue. As a young adult, he enjoyed surfing, scuba diving and working on his Ford Mustang. Some of Jim’s other interests were raising birds, especially cockatiels with his nephew, Jeff. There were no limits with Jim, he was willing to do everything. Jim loved going to his children’s activities and especially held onto the moments he had with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carol Parker of Huron; his son, Tysen (Lena) Parker of Huron; his daughter, Kylynn (Alex Stahl) Parker of Huron; three grandchildren, Daniel Parker, Hunter Parker and Addisen Parker; and his nephews and nieces, Jeff (Adele) Brecht, Justin (Erin) Brecht, Myrriah (Jon) Sijabat, Joshua Brecht, Jared Brecht, Madison Brecht, McKenna Brecht, McKayla Brecht and Jeffery Brecht.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Parker; and his sister, Karen Brecht.
