MIRANDA — James R. Goebel, 66, of Miranda, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017, in a farm accident near his home.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday, October 5, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Faulkton. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery at Faulkton. A wake service will be 7 p.m., Wednesday at the church with visitation one-hour prior.
James Raymond Goebel was born January 19, 1951, in Faulkton to Ray and Kathleen (Greenan) Goebel. He attended country school and graduated from Faulkton High School in 1969. Following high school, Jim attended Northern State College, receiving a degree in business. He returned to the family farm and joined his father in all farm operations.
He was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He also served his community through various community boards and organizations.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary (Jim) Sandness of Woonsocket, and Agnes Goebel (Edward Stewart) of Huron; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Sandness (Gary Manuel), Amy (James) Hook, Steve (Amber) Sandness, Anne Sandness, and Joe (Anna) Sandness; and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers in infancy.
