ARLINGTON — James D. Rogers, 75 of Arlington, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, at his home from natural causes.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, at the Arlington High School Multi-purpose room. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington.
James Douglas “Doug” Rogers was born  March 31, 1943, in Wessington to James Theodore “Ted” and Alice (Dwyer) Rogers. He grew up on a farm near Wessington. He graduated from Wessington High School in 1961, and from Huron College with a degree in Physical Education and Mathematics in 1965.
After four years of teaching in Canova, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he was stationed at Fitzsimmons Army Base in Colorado. He was united in marriage to Patricia Walter February 14, 1970. Besides teaching, he worked in the seed business for over twenty years before he retired. 
He is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Kelly (Mark) of McPherson, Kan., and Brad of Overland Park, Kan.; two grandchildren; siblings, Charles (Paula) Rogers of Sioux Falls, Mary (Everett) Fisk of Watertown, Linda Heavirland of North Branch, Minn.; sister-in-law, Myla (Chuck) Kampshoff of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Matt Kampshoff.
