HURON — John D. “Fugi” Fuglsang, 77, of Huron, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Sanford USD Medical Center at Sioux Falls.
As per his wishes there will be no services.
John was born July 29, 1940, at Huron to Clair and Genevieve (Mahoney) Fuglsang. He spent his entire life in Huron. He graduated from Huron High School and was a member of the 1958 State A Basketball Championship team. He then attended and graduated from Huron College.
John worked at the Huron Plainsman for many years. Later, he owned and operated Fugi’s Boat and Motor Service. He was so appreciative when friends and customers would stop at the boat shop with fresh walleye from their fishing trip or produce from their garden.
John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys when they were young. John coached both sons on their little league teams. Watching sports on tv was a favorite pastime for him, as well as his sons when they stopped by.
He is survived by his family, John R. (Kim Hudson) Fuglsang of Pierre, Chris Fuglsang of Huron, and Linda Hawkins of Huron; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters and their spouses, Mary Jane (Dick) Wood, and Elaine (Ralph) Roth.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron.
