HURON — Johnnie M. Hofer, 96, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Avantara – Huron.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. His service will be live-streamed through Kuhler’s Facebook page.
Johnnie Melvin Hofer was born Oct. 21, 1923, to Jacob S. and Mary E. (Wipf) Hofer north of Huron.
On March 6, 1945, he married Elvina Kleinsasser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald Hofer; a daughter-in-law, Diana Hofer; one grandson, a great-granddaughter; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Richard, Jake and Rosie, Eli and Ruth, Dave and Gladys, and Martin and VeAnna; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jake Tschetter; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Hofer.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Elvina; three sons, Ronald of Moore, Okla., Dennis and Janet of Lincoln, Neb., and Reginald and Julie of Huron; and one brother, Sam of Hitchcock; and many grandchildren.
