HURON – Bo Johnson and a bowling team from Huron won first-place honors in the SD State USBC Open Championships which concluded Sunday at Village Bowl in Mitchell.
Individual titles claimed by Johnson included: singles (181 avg. and over) and scratch singles, 822; scratch all events, 2,195, and special scratch, 1,058. He also bowled with the first-place Quality Homes four-bowler team from Parkston (721 and over) with Marty Barington, Daren Lindeman and Sean Mason. They tallied 2,763 among the 326 teams competing. The team also won scratch honors with 2,745.
The Huron team, Benny and the Jets, captured first place in the 720-and-under division with 2,718. On the team were: Trevor McCaskell, Chad Wilde, Ben Wilson and Logan Kopfmann.
Johnson also finished third in handicap all events.
