HURON — Joseph “Joe” Henkel, 83, of Huron, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 19, at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Cemetery at Iroquois. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A scripture service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Joseph “Joe” Henkel was born June 8, 1935, Tioga, Wisc. to Emil and Marie (Gastour) Henkel. In 1942, the family moved to Iroquois, where he attended school. He was united in marriage to Gila Anderberg July 10, 1954. In 1958, the couple moved to Huron. He had been employed with Old Dutch, had owned Joe’s Pub in Wolsey, and eventually retired with R & R Station.  
He is survived by his wife, Gila; daughters, Debbie (Rick) Syhre, and Vickie (Roger) Rounds; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther (Cliff) Pederson, and Elaine Schlosser; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Henkel, and Vieva Henkel; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold and Walter Henkel; brothers-in-law, Martin Zapp, and Bob Schlosser;  one great-granddaughter; and one nephew.
