HURON — Joseph “Joe” A. Zell, 84, of Huron, passed away at his home.
Joe’s wishes were to be cremated with burial in the Frankfort Cemetery at a later date.
Joseph Allen Zell was born July 11, 1934, on a farm near Frankfort to Melvin and Susan M. (Rouse) Zell. He received his education at Frankfort.
He went into construction and operated Joe A. Zell Construction for many years. He spent his entire life living in the Frankfort and Huron areas. He enjoyed horses and at one time owned a race horse, which he raced at Ft. Pierre.
He is survived by two children, Tracy Zell of Sioux City, Iowa, and Lorrie Zell of Huron; two grandchildren, August and Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Sophie; three sisters, Laura Eidsness of Grinnell, Iowa, Berndaine Wiles of Redfield, and Geraldine Starkey and her husband, Roy of Brainard, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fred Zell, and Walt Zell; four brothers-in-law, Clayton Bayer, Evan Wiles, Doyle Whirley and Floyd Eidsness.
