ASHTON — Joyce Marian (Hansen) Jansen, 90, of Ashton, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Redfield.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, September 25, at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Joyce Marian Hansen was born December 19, 1926, in Turton to Otto and Marian (Hawke) Hansen. She graduated from Brentford High School. She was united in marriage to Herman John “Johnny” Jansen August 20, 1945.
She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church of Ashton and later Redfield, and the Good Sam Camping Club.
She is survived by her husband, John; daughter-in-law, Myra Van Baale of Newton; children, Jene Jansen of Texas, Jack of Ashton, Joel of Chaska, Minn., and Janelle Jansen of Sioux Falls; sister, Carol Woodfork; brother-in-law, Veryl; sisters, Linda Thiesen, Vallerie Abernathy, and Cheryl Van Zee; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her cat, “Paws”.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerald; siblings, Bernadene Lewis, Donna Zens, Lyle Hansen, and Lester Hansen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for the United Methodist Church in Redfield.
