HURON — Judith “Judy” North, 75, of Huron, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m., Monday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with her family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening. 
Judith “Judy” was born on September 21, 1941, in Huron to Ernest and Nellie (North) Vanderhule. She grew up on farms near the Howard/Artesian area and then at Esmond where she finished her grade school education and two years of high school at Carthage. Her family then moved to Huron where she finished her schooling, which included attending Northwest College of Commerce for one year.
In September of 1958, she married George North. They made their home in Huron. The first few years of their marriage Judy was a stay at home mom with her three daughters. Later she worked several jobs including being a bookkeeper for their family business, waitress, motel clerk and receptionist.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the YaDa YaDa Coffee Club, formerly known as the Morningside Mothers Club of the Morningside Chapel.
Her favorite pastimes at home were working puzzles of all kinds, and watching “Wheel of Fortune” and the “Golden Girls” on television.
Survivors include her husband, George North of Huron; her three daughters, Dawn (Tom) Burkel of Huron, Holly (Tony) Mitchell of Huron, and Carrie (Doug) Harvey of Rapid City; twelve grandchildren, James, Bill and Nellie Cribben, Lisa Pehrson, Ashley Pollock, Shawn and Aaron Harvey, Cassie Plooster, and Max, George, Emersen and Jack Mitchell; nineteen great-grandchildren; two half-brothers, Floyd (Christine) Sargent of Tucson, Ariz., and John (Mardi) Sargent of Gregory.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-granddaughter, Grace Baker; and a half brother, Clarence Vanderhule.
