HURON — Approximately 90 of the top golfers in the state, ages 11-18, descended on Broadland Creek Golf Course Wednesday, as the South Dakota Golf Association’s Junior Tour made its annual stop in Huron.
Winners, many from the Heartland area, were crowned in four age divisions for both boys’ and girls’ competitors. Among the local winners were Kenya Bigelow, 12-13 girls, Nolan Wiegel, boys’ 16-18 and Austin Boomsma of Wessington, in the 14-15 boys’ division.
Kenya Bigelow won her division, shooting a 104 and winning in a playoff over Hayley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen.
Karlie Bigelow also tied in the 14-15 girls’ division, but came out on the short end of a playoff with Kelsey Heath of Sisseton. Both golfers fired 90s over the 18-hole layout.
Wiegel also persevered in a playoff, taking the win from Judah Aderhold of Bath. Both golfers shot an even-par 72 on the day.

Boomsma cruised to a three-stroke win in the 14-15 boys’ division, shooting a 77 on the day, easing past Gavin Hibbert of Watertown.
Ryan Stahl of Huron finished 12th in the final 14-15 boys’ standing, but recorded a hole-in-one during the competition. According to club pro Jim Bigelow, Stahl used a driver to ace the 170-yard third hole, scoring the eagle into a stiff headwind and with the pin cut far back on the green.
Other winners on the day included Kaden Rylance, Watertown, in the boys’ 11-and-under division, Morgan Jones of Aberdeen in the 11-and-under girls, Jake Olson of Watertown in 12-13 boys and Sydney Wirebaugh of Aberdeen in 16-18 girls.
