HURON — Approximately 90 of the top golfers in the state, ages 11-18, descended on Broadland Creek Golf Course Wednesday, as the South Dakota Golf Association’s Junior Tour made its annual stop in Huron.
Winners, many from the Heartland area, were crowned in four age divisions for both boys’ and girls’ competitors. Among the local winners were Kenya Bigelow, 12-13 girls, Nolan Wiegel, boys’ 16-18 and Austin Boomsma of Wessington, in the 14-15 boys’ division.
Kenya Bigelow won her division, shooting a 104 and winning in a playoff over Hayley Wirebaugh of Aberdeen.
Karlie Bigelow also tied in the 14-15 girls’ division, but came out on the short end of a playoff with Kelsey Heath of Sisseton. Both golfers fired 90s over the 18-hole layout.
Wiegel also persevered in a playoff, taking the win from Judah Aderhold of Bath. Both golfers shot an even-par 72 on the day.
