Area golf teams compete in JVC Invitational

HURON — The James Valley Christian Golf Invitational took place on Thursday at the Broadland Creek Golf Course, with several Heartland-area teams teeing it up over the 18-hole layout.
In the boys’ division, the Howard Tigers earned the team title with a score of 252 on the day, followed by Aberdeen Christian at 260 and Deubrook Area at 264.
The James Valley Christian boys took fourth place with a total of 269 points, in sixth place De Smet finished with 315 to edge out Sanborn Central-Woonsocket by one point at 316.
Deubrook Area topped the sheet in the girls team score, as only three schools fielded full teams. The Dolphins shot 263, Howard carded a 284 and De Smet was third with 313.
Aberdeen Christian golfer Judah Aderhold shot a 71 to take medalist honors, followed by Noah Hodges of Howard with a 78 and Deubrook Area’s Nick Olson.
James Valley Christian’s boys, were led by Carter Wells’ 86, Richard Rink took ninth with an 88, Ryan Stahl finished 16th with a 95, and Kevin Goertz tallied 99 points in nineteenth place.
