WEBSTER — James Valley Christian claimed the team title with a total of 24 points in the boys’ division of the Webster Area cross country invitational, held Monday at the Webster Golf Course. In second place with 59 points, the Warner boys’ edged out Estelline-Hendricks by 10 points to put them in third with 69 points.
Individually, the 5K race medalist honors went to Michael Wirth of Warner as he crossed the line first at 17:37.62, followed by teammate Cody Larson with a time of 17:42.56 to place second. James Valley runners claimed the third and fourth spots in the 5K, with Colton Schweigert at 18:12.96, and Braden Held followed at 18:26.68 for the team.
Other top James Valley finishers include Darrian Hood in sixth place with a time of 18:44.94, and Daniel Ayoroa was 11th at 19:09.68.
In the girls’ division, the 5K race team winners were Webster Area with 36 points to place first, Deuel was second at 51 only two points ahead of James Valley Christian in third place with a total of 53 points.
The medalist honors went to Kenzie Hamann of Duel in first place with a time of 20:26.96, followed by Webster Area’s Rana Hegg in second at 20:42.86, while third place was claimed by Victoria Zirbel from Dakota Hills with a 21:05.32 finishing time.
Madelynn Brantner led the James Valley girls as she finished fourth at 21:30.58 Abbyy Hasart took sixth place with a time of 21:30.58.
James Valley will be back in action at 9 a.m. on Saturday, for the Clyde Cotton Invite being held at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.
