WHITE — The James Valley Christian girls’ team and sophomore Daniel Ayoroa won titles during the Deubrook Cross Country Invite, which was held Saturday at 6 Mile Creek Golf Course.
The Lady Vikings had four of the 14 runners in the field to finish with 22, which allowed them to edge Deuel for the top spot by three points.
Abby Hasart led JVC with a time of 21:59.75, which put her fifth overall. AbbyKate Hamilton was eighth for the Lady Vikings at 22:22.88, followed by Madelynn Brantner in 12th at 23:19.34 and Rhayonna Hood in 14th at 23:31.88.
Ellie Olson of Deubrook Area was the top runner in the girls’ varsity race at 20:58.06, while Ana Wilkison of Baltic was second at 21:06.28.
Ayoroa won the boys’ varsity race for JVC with a time of 18:11.41, while Jacob Vogel of Dell Rapids St. Mary was second at 18:12.84.
Baylor Beck of De Smet recorded at top-5 finish with a time of 18:40.72 to finish fifth.
Brady Jordan of Clark-Willow Lake was eighth at 19:26.25, while teammates Schuyler McElhone was 11th at 19:40.47 and Charlie Spieker was 18th at 20:12.94.
Clark-Willow Lake finished second in the boys’ varsity team standings. De Smet was sixth at 49, while James Valley Christian was ninth at 74.
