JVC, Highmore-Harrold win 281 Conference titles

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — With three of the four top runners in the race, the James Valley Christian girls’ cross country team won its sixth consecutive 281 Conference title on Wednesday.

Abby Hasart of James Valley Christian led the 15-runner field to claim the 281 Conference individual title with a time of 21:48.4.

Autumn Fallis of Highmore-Harrold was second at 22:22.8, followed by JVC teammates Hadasah Olson and Rhayonna Hood in third and fourth, respectively, with times of 23:18.9 and 23:42.5.

Rounding out the top five in the girls’ varsity race was Mallory Carlson of Iroquois/Lake Preston at 23:47.2.
Wessington Springs was second in the girls’ standings, followed by Sanborn Central/Woonsocket.

Highmore-Harrold also had three of the top 5 runners in the varsity boys’ race to capture the 281 Conference title.

The Pirates finished with eight points, while Wolsey-Wessington was second at 26. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was third at 29, followed by Sunshine Bible Academy at 37.

Dawson Hale won the boys’ varsity race for Highmore-Harrold in 19:02.0

Jeff Boschee of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was second, however no time was listed for his finish, while Dax Frandsen of JVC was third at 20:51.0.

Highmore-Harrold teammates Ethan Flyer and Jayden Erfman were fourth and fifth, respectively, with times of 21:17.0 and 21:18.0.
