JVC wins consolation title in 281 Conference tourney

HURON — James Valley Christian used a 3-1 win against Wessington Springs to claim the consolation championship of the 281 Conference Volleyball Tournament on Saturday at the JVC gym.
After dropping the opening set 27-25, the Lady Vikings recorded set wins of 25-19, 25-11 and 25-21 to secure the victory.
AbbyRose Miller was 22 of 23 serving and had three aces for JVC, while Alaina Dale was the top attacker with 13 kills on 14 of 18 spikes, and Angelina Zuccaro added seven kills on 8 of 10 attacks.
Bekah Williams converted on 102 of 107 sets with 26 assists for the Lady Vikings. Miller and Allison Blom finished with 37 and 20 digs, respectively, while Dale had a team-high 11 blocks.
Maddie Neely led Wessington Springs with four aces and had seven kils. Chasity Vissia had 13 assists, while Makayla Dornbusch had four blocks and Sierra Swenson had 16 digs.

Seventh-place match
Sunshine Bible Academy 3, Iroquois 0
HURON — Lindsey Wilken converted on 23 of 25 attacks and finished with 11 kills to lead Sunshine Bible Academy to a 3-0 victory against Iroquois in the seventh-place match.
Susan Wilken was 30 of 30 from the service line with nine of the 22 aces for the Lady Crusaders, Dori Brockel and Ruthe Lopez had five and four aces, respectively.
Susan Wilken also had team-high totals with 10 assists and seven digs, while Savanna Roghair had six assists for SBA.
No statistics were available for Iroquois.
Consolation semifinals
James Valley Christian 3, Iroquois 0
HURON — The James Valley Christian Lady Vikings defeated the Iroquois Lady Chiefs 3-0 in the consolation semi-finals at the 281 conference on Saturday afternoon.
James Valley’s season record is now 7-8 with set scores, 25-11, 25-12 and 25-15.
Bekah Williams led the Vikings with three aces and 10 assists, while Abby Rose Miller had four aces and made 10 defensive digs. Julie Blom had five kills, while Alaina Dale and Angie Zuccaro each hit four kills.
The Lady Chiefs’ Savannah Markham hit two kills and two blocks, while Niah Rogers also had two kills. Chelsey Timm had two aces, while Kiana Simons had one ace and Hayley Geyer had two assists.
Wessington Springs 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 0
HURON — The Wessington Springs Lady Spartans won 3-0 against the Sunshine Bible Academy Crusaders at the 281 conference held Saturday, in a semi-final consolation match.
The set scores for the match were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-11.
Leading the Spartans was Maddie Neely with 11 kills, seven kills and two blocks, while Sierra Swenson and Sierra Burg both had two aces. Cadee Schelske hit five kills and had 11 assists, while Chasity Vissia had 14 assists.
Susan Wilken had seven assists and 11 digs for the Crusaders, Savannah Roghair had two aces and thee assists, while Ruthe Lopez hit four kills and one block.
