JVC’s Rink wins title in Wessington Springs

WESSINGTON SPRINGS — With a score of 73, Richard Rink of James Valley Christian was the boys’ medalist during the Wessington Springs Invitational Golf Meet on Tuesday.
Mt. Vernon-Plankinton teammates Jed Vissia, Hunter Pranger and Kaden Karst claimed spots No. 2-4, respectively, with scores of 76, 77 and 78.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket’s Trevor Olson rounded out the top five with a score of 79. Carter Wells of JVC was sixth at 80, while teammate Zachary Hofer was eighth at 87.
Jevin Goertz and Ryan Stahl carded scores of 88 for JVC to finish in a four-way tie for ninth, which included Wessington Springs’ top golfer in Jacob Messmer.
Mt. Vernon-Plankinton had three of the top four golfers in the girl’s division, including medalist Kaylin Bohr with a winning score of 87. Kaleigh Erdahl was second for MV-P with an 89, while Mariah Weich was fourth at 93.

Finishing third in the standings was AbbyRose Miller of James Valley Christian with a 91. Jaycee Hohn of Wessington Springs was fifth at 97, while teammate Cheyenne Burg tied for eighth with a 108.
Alissa Ball also finished at 108 and was the highest finishing golfer for Sanborn Central-Woonsocket. Katie Schmit was 10th for the Lady Blackhawks at 111, while teammate Mariah Jost followed with a 120.
