WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Karen Messmer, 79, of Wessington Springs, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020, at her home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs, with Rev. Zach Kingery officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.  
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m., at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Karen was born July 28, 1940, to Bernard and Iva Simmons.  
On May 10, 1959, she married Paul Messmer.      
Karen is survived by her son, Jeff (Tricia) of Wessington Springs; son-in-law, Lee Johnson of Wessington Springs; her sister, Connie of Omaha; grandchildren, Lacey, Laura, Nicholas, Andy, Alexa, Blake, Austin, Jacob and Mariah; great grandchildren, Lainey, Bray, Lexi, Cora, Eli, Kolt, and Jett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; a son, Allan; a daughter, Jackie Johnson; and a brother, Lyle.
