HURON — The Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) Foundation announces the addition of Levi Kary as executive director for the organization, according to Nicola Larson, HRMC Foundation board chair.

“I am thrilled to announce Levi as our new executive director and excited for the opportunities ahead,” said Larson. “He is invested in the development of our community and has a proven passion for serving those around him.”

Originally from Mobridge, Kary has lived in Huron for seven years and is active on several boards in the community, serving as a United Way board member and United Way Day-of-Caring Board Co-Chair, Beadle County Habitat for Humanity board vice-president and Huron Public Library board president.

He graduated from the University of Minnesota’s Curtis L. Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurial Studies and Marketing in 2007 and earned a Trust Management Certificate from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell in 2020.

Kary has worked in the banking and trust industry in Huron since 2016, most recently serving as trust officer at American Bank and Trust.

Kary joined HRMC in February on a part-time basis and is set to begin his new role on a full-time basis on March 15. He has been active in planning for the HRMC Foundation Papa Luigi fundraiser and integral in the activities of the capital campaign to raise funds for the HRMC dialysis expansion. As executive director, Kary is responsible for guiding and coordinating fundraising, special events, community and donor relations and all other activities that further the mission of the HRMC Foundation, which is to support the health and wellbeing of the community and ensure the availability of high-quality health care, close to home.

“Huron has become my home, and I look forward to raising my kids.  Quality health care is imperative, and I believe I’ll find great fulfillment in working on a daily basis to ensure that it is available to my friends, family and neighbors in Huron.” says Kary.

Kary and his wife, Rachel who works as a librarian at Huron High School, have two children: Leo, age seven, and Connor, age three. In his spare time, Kary enjoys golf, reading, following mediocre sports teams, and going on adventures with his family and dog.
