HURON — Kathryn J. Waldner, 64, of Riverside Colony, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017, at her home peacefully, with family by her side.
Her funeral service was held Monday, May 1, at the Riverside Colony of rural Huron. She was born on January 29, 1953, in Huron to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wurtz) Waldner.
She was united in marriage to Jackie Waldner May 5, 1974, and lived at the Riverside Colony where they raised their seven children. She was very dedicated to her work in the colony and to her children. Nothing was too much for Kathryn; she didn’t have a leisurely life and never complained about her hardships. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.
Kathryn was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, and was cancer free for several years. In October 2015, she was re-diagnosed with cancer that metastasized to the bone; she fought a courageous battle to the end.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Jackie; seven children, Jake, Marlene and her husband Jerry, and their six children, Jeraine, Jacobi, Katrina, Cory, Alex, and Ajay; Larry and his son Waylon; Kathy; Tanya and her husband, John and their five children, Teanna, Joni, Crystal, Isaac, and Melanie; Melissa; and Lance; five sisters, Mary Ann, Dora, Judy, Sara, and Lisa; and five brothers, Larry, Terry, Melvin, Johnny, and Norman.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; mother-in-law and father-in-law; and two brothers, Jim and Mike.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Welter Funeral Home in Huron
