Katz wins pole vault for Tigers at O’Gorman meet

SIOUX FALLS — Shannon Katz secured a win for the Huron track team during the girls’ pole vault on Friday in the Sioux Falls O’Gorman Invitational.
Katz cleared 10 feet, three inches to win the event by a foot, while teammate Reagan Rozell was fifth at 8-9.
Alexandria Gilbert was sixth for the Tigers in the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 13.40 seconds, while Tenley Buddenhagen was sixth in the 400 at 1:04.31.
Matt Katz nearly made it a sweep for the family in the pole vault. He went 12-9 to finish second in the boys’ pole vault for Huron, missing the top spot on number of jumps.

Frank Hines was seventh in the boys’ pole vault for the Tigers at 11-9.
Also placing for Huron’s boys’ team was Brenden Corbett, who finished sixth in the 400 at 54.14.
Some of the track team members for the Tigers participated in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday, and the event continues today.
Next up for the entire Huron track squad will be the Eastern South Dakota Conference Meet, which will be held at 11:30 a.m. on May 13 at Tiger Stadium.
