HURON — We Found Sound, a Huron Community Show Choir, will be presenting its 13th annual Spring Show, “Keepin’ the Beat,” Saturday and Sunday, April 9, at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. at the Huron Fine Arts Theatre, 939 Ohio Ave. S.W.
Advance tickets ($6) are available at American Bank & Trust and Farmers & Merchants Bank until 4 p.m. Friday. Tickets will also be available at the door for $8.
Directed by Katie Scheibe and Kristi Kattner, WFS has 60-plus members in the Minors (grades three through seven) and Majors (grades eight through 12).
They rehearse weekly on Sunday afternoons at the WFS Studio in downtown Huron. They also present a Christmas Spectacular each year, as well as performing annually at the Salvation Army Christmas Basket Program.
“Many hours have been spent preparing for this show, please come and support these amazing kids,” said Scheibe. “Thank you to all our great supporters in the community; we would not be celebrating 13 years without you. These kids will have you tappin’ to the beat.”
Special groups that will be performing are the Dance Troupe, White Glove Crew and a Junior/Senior ensemble.
Some of the songs they will be performing include “We Are The World,” “I Got A Feeling,” “Feel The Beat,” “We Got The Beat” and many more.
There are eight graduating seniors in WFS this year, Alissa Byrd, Alyssa Schwartz, Callee Neihus, Carson Hruby, Courtney Hoogland, Henry Rubish, Jennee Neihus and Kinsey Evens.

Some have been with WFS for 10 years and are preparing for their 20th show with the group. They include Byrd, Schwartz and Evens.
“The thing I will miss most is performing in the shows and going on the ‘Sounds Like Love’ trips,” said Byrd.
“I will miss the close relationships I have made and all of the fun songs we sing at We Found Sound,” added Schwartz.
“I’m going to miss having something to do on the weekends, and I’m going to miss performing in the shows,” agreed Evens.
This will be the second show for Rubish, who said, “I really enjoyed trying to find the sound every Sunday. We Found Sound has been a great experience.”
Callee Niehus, who is preparing for her 14th show with WFS, pointed to a favorite quote to express how she felt: “We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun,” she said. “I will miss being a part of We Found Sound.”
Her sister, Jennee Niehus, said getting ready for the performances is almost as fun as the event itself. This will be her 12th show.
“My favorite thing about WFS is hanging out with all my friends and getting ready with everyone in the dressing room before the shows,” Jennee Niehus said.
Having the opportunity to get up on stage and perform before an audience was an awesome experience, said Hoogland, who will be in her 16th performance next weekend..
“I think the thing I will miss the most about WFS is how great I feel on performance day up on stage with all my friends,” she said.
“I’m so glad I joined We Found Sound,” added Hruby. “It gives me an outlet for a while every week where I can sing and not worry about anything else.”
This will be his second show with the group.
Kattner said she encourages everyone to take in one of the performances.
“The heart of music is it’s beat,” Kattner said. “Throughout our show the beat is strong in the hearts of these talented kids.”
