MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Kent A. Slocum, 86, of Mishawaka, passed away at home on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the arms of his wife. Kent was born in Sioux Falls, Iowa on August 7, 1935, to the late James and Alphea Slocum.
On November 2, 2005, Kent married Cora (Bowder) Emmons who survives. Also surviving is his daughter, Jan (Claude) Barringer; stepson, Jody J. (Tamara) Emmons; grandson, Jeremy Emmons; granddaughter, Jodi Neeley; and great-grandchildren, Colbie Emmons, Benjamin Reuse, Caden Reuse, Anna Reuse, Morgan Slocum, Leneigha Boyle and Bryce Boyle. Kent is preceded in death by his son, Jay Slocum.
Kent graduated from Huron High School in Huron, S.D. in 1953. Kent received his bachelor’s degree from State University at South Dakota and went on to work in the radio and TV as a broadcaster and general manager of several networks.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date to celebrate a “great man” that lived a great life. Hahn Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the final arrangements.
