HURON – Toby Kneen, a senior lineman on the Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Blackhawks, was the lone area representative on the 2022 Class 11B All-State team. Three area players received honorable mention.

Kneen was selected as an offensive lineman for the All-State team. Blackhawk coach Kenny Huether noted that Kneen was a three-year starter that set the school’s sack record this year as a defensive lineman as well.

“This year he was a captain and team leader,” Huether said. “On offense, we ran behind him 70% of the time and he didn’t give up a sack all year.”

The Blackhawks also had one honorable mention, senior Camden Jost. Jost was the leading rusher and tackler for W/WS/SC. He had 75 tackles and a sack this season.

Clark/Willow Lake Cyclone senior quarterback Trey Huber was selected as an honorable mention, totaling 275 yards rushing and and 546 yards passing in six games.

Cyclone head coach Dave Severson stated of Huber: “great perception, hardest worker on the team, great vision, great dual threat quarterback, and leader on and off the field.”

Senior Tate Hoffman of the Miller/Highmore-Harrold Rustlers was selected as an honorable mention. Hoffman opened the season at tailback and moved to tight end during the year while also putting up 56 tackles, four sacks, and returning an interception for a touchdown on defense.

Rustler coach Travis Heasley was effusive with praise for Hoffman.

“Tate was the backbone for our team,” Heasley raved. “Tate became a game-changer on defense. He made opponents run away from him.”
