Kopecky wins super stock special in Miller

MILLER — Brad Kopecky of Miller notched his first win of the season during a WISSOTA super stock special held Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.
Kopecky held off Stewart Schipke of Aberdeen, who was seeking his second straight and third overall victory of the season at the track, to claim the $1,000 top prize.
Kopecky started sixth in the 14-car field for the 20-lap feature race, while Chipke was a row back in eighth.
Austin Arbogast of Huron moved up two spots to finish third in the super stock main event, while Dominique Menzia of Aberdeen wheeled his way from 14th to fourth and Derek Zastrow of Gann Valley was fifth.
Winning the super stock heat races were Kopecky and Schipke.
Maria Broksieck of Goodwin continued her winning streak in the WISSOTA street stock division, earning her third straight feature win. She now has six this season and nine overall at MCS.
Jayden Bogh of Huron, who started on the pole, was second to Broksieck, while Jace Baloun of Highmore was third. Rounding out the top five were Kenneth Clements of Madison and Grady Myers of Winner.
Broc Stout of Winner and Jodie Michaelsohn of Aberdeen won the street stock heat races.
Jarod Klein of Jamestown, N.D., made his first trip to Miller Central Speedway a successful one, as he topped the 10-car field in the WISSOTA Midwest modified feature race.
Klein moved from fifth to first during the 15-lap race. Cory Berquist of Huron was second, while Jake Wranek of Sioux Falls was third. Rounding out the top five were Luke Johnson of Miller and Britt Williams of Ft. Pierre.
Johnson and Klein won the Midwest modified heat races.
Dale Ames of Huron found his way back to Victory Lane in the WISSOTA modified main event. He started fourth in the 7-car field and earned his 13th victory of his career at the track.
Mike Stearns of Aberdeen was second, followed by Kelly Duffy of Winner, Tyler Anglin of Aberdeen and Derek Hanson of Britton.
Stearns earned the win in the lone modified heat race.
Andy Brooker of Tulare collected his first win of the season in the Pump-N-Pak pure stock feature race. He started on the outside of the front row and held off Mackenzie Kopecky for the win.
Scott Hoffer of Winner was third, followed by Mike Hammill of Miller and Cody Songer of Wolsey.
Songer and Hammill recorded wins in the pure stock heat races.
Also securing his first victory of the season on Saturday was Thomas Weisgram of Northville in the 20-lap WISSOTA late model main event.
Weisgram started on the pole and held off Chad Becker of Aberdeen for the win. Cole Searing of Huron moved from eighth to third, while Jayson Good of Watertown was fourth and Chase Gelling of Aberdeen was fifth.
Searing and Becker inked heat wins in the late model division.
Racing returns to Miller Central Speedway at 7 p.m. Saturday with all classes in action.
