Lady All-Stars battle to tie with Sioux Center

The Huron Lady All-Stars skated to a 3-3 tie against Sioux Center on Sunday at Bergman Arena.

Kylee Small had a pair of goals to open the scoring for the Lady All-Stars in the first period. The first was unassisted, while the second came on a pass from Anna Fuerst.

Jolie Carrillo found the net for Huron in the closing seconds of the opening period to make it 3-1. She was assisted on the play by Devin Hunter and Fuerst.

Neither team scored in the second period, but Sioux Center managed a pair of goals in the third period to force overtime.

The Lady All-Stars finished with 41 shots on goal, compared to 24 for Sioux Center. Avelia Colon had 21 saves for Huron.

On Saturday, Sioux Center capitalized on its home ice to get a 5-3 win against Huron.

Hunter had a pair of goals in the game for the Lady All-Stars. The first came in the opening period on a pass from Small during a short-handed situation, while the second came on a pass from Azalea Rashaad in the final period.

Rashaad had the other goal for Huron in the second period during a power play. Carrillo had the assist.
Colon tallied 19 saves in the game for the Lady All-Stars.

In the opening game of the three-game set on Friday, Aberdeen scored seven goals in the second period to get past Huron 14-1.

Rashaad had the lone goal for the Lady All-Stars on an unassisted shot in the opening period.

Colon stopped 40 of the 54 shots she faced in the net for Huron.

The Lady All-Stars will return to league play Feb. 11 with a home game against Oahe.
