ALPENA — Larry Harper, 73, of Alpena, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
Per his request, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, at the Kuhler Funeral Home.
Larry Scott Harper was born May 27, 1944, to Merrell and Genevieve (Lagerman) Harper at Waterloo, Iowa. In 1987, he moved from Butte, Montana to Huron to live closer to his sister. Shortly after moving to Huron, he met Ruby (Harmdierks) Tobin. On June 25, 1988, Larry and Ruby married at Huron.
He was a semi-truck driver for over 40 years until his retirement in 2001. Over the years, he enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching movies. He was also a Vikings fan.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Alpena; children, Stacy Harper of Neb., and Amanda Harper of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren, Ashton Harper, Antonio Harper, Noemi Harper, Ossy Harper and Nayeli Soto Harper; four brothers, Chester Harper of Evansdale, Iowa, David Harper of St. Cloud Minn., Billy Harper of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jimmy Harper of Traer, Iowa; three sisters, Carolyn Kientoff of Des Moines, Iowa, Kitty Anderson of Plainview, Neb. and Susan McBride of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
