MADISON — Lawrence Eich, 97, of Madison, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.  
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 7, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday one hour prior to mass at Weiland Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery with military honors.
Lawrence Matthias Eich was born July 23, 1920, near Epiphany to Matt and Dora (Bender). He enlisted in the United State Army in 1942, and proudly served in the European Front of WWII. He was united in marriage to Irene, March 8, 1943. The couple farmed near Winfred. He was honored for his service by his local Legion and Governor Daugaard on Memorial Day, 2012.
He is survived by his children, Larry of Loves Park, Ill., Marvin (Jackie) of Winfred, Janet (Loren) Struble of Huron, Roger (Marletta) of Madison, and Bruce (Sharon) of Mesa Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence of Slayton Minn., and LaVerne (Myrtle) of Rapid City.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; sister, Dorothy; brother, Nobert; son, Dean, and his daughter-in-law, Janet.
Memorials can be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Home and St. Thomas School, located in Madison, or the donor’s choice.
