HOWARD — Leo William Poncelet, 84, of Howard, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019, at Whispering Winds Assisted Living in Howard.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m., Monday February 11, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard. Burial with Military Rites will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Howard. Visitation with family present, will be 2 p.m. Sunday with a Scripture Service to be said at 4 p.m., all at the catholic church in Howard.
Leo William Poncelet was born May 16, 1934, in Howard to Theodore and Elizabeth (Hansen) Poncelet. He graduated from St. Agatha High School in 1952, and
served 18 months in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Murphy on June 6, 1956. He worked for Robbins Motors as an automotive mechanic for 20 years and managed Sunrise Terrace Apartments until retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne; children, John (Arlene) Poncelet of Pierre, Joe (Rose) Poncelet of Gering, Neb., Kathy (Rod) Bushman of Sioux Falls, Teresa (Harvey) Freeman of Sioux Falls, Tony (Rachel) Poncelet of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Betty (Dean) Sadler of Mitchell; 15 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; siblings, Tom Poncelet of Howard, Evelyn Harry of Hawarden, Iowa, and Rita Thompson of Brandon.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ralph, Martin, Don, Leo (infant), Rosella, Callista, Margaret, and Amelia.
