HURON — Leore E.  Nixon, 68, of Huron, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, at her home.
A Memorial Visitation, with the family present will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 7, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with burial at a later date. 
Leore Eva Chappell was born April 24, 1950, in Albania, Calif. to Ross and Helen E.  (Anderson) Chappel. She attended school and graduated from San Dimas High School in Los Angeles County, Calif.
She was united in marriage to Randy Nixon May 4, 1968, in Montclair, Calif. The couple lived in California for a few years where Leore worked for the Airstream Company, before moving to Iroquois in 1978. The couple moved to Huron in 2008. After moving to South Dakota, Leore began working as a legal secretary and bookkeeper for the Beadle County Clerk of Courts in Huron until her retirement.
She loved sewing, crocheting, quilting, embroidery, and travelling to various sewing retreats with her friends. When she lived in Calif. she enjoyed trips to the desert and four wheeling. She also enjoyed racing cars at the local drag strip.
She is survived by her husband, Randolph of Huron; two sons, Dean (Sheryl) Nixon of Aurora, and Randy (Joany) Nixon of New Underwood; and four grandchildren, Justin and Jason, Nathan and Alexandra.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers.
