HURON — LeRoy D. Hansen, 86, of Huron,  passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Huron Regional Center in Huron.
His Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 26, at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors by the Huron Veterans Council. Visitation, with the family present, will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service to begin at 6 p.m. or visitation one half hour prior to the service at the church.
LeRoy D. Hansen was born on March 24, 1931, near Woonsocket to William Sr. and Maggie (Kludt) Hansen. He attended country school in Sanborn County. He served in the 724th Transportation Battalion during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked for the Bales Cattle Company and was a lifelong farmer.
He was united in marriage to Sharron VanDerAarde June 30, 1957, and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.  
He is survived by his children, Penny (Chuck) Lentz of Huron, Curt Hansen of Pipestone, Minn., seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill Hansen of Huron, Duane (MaryAnn) Hansen of Mitchell, Shirley Knutson of Huron, and Jan (Ken) Huber of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife; and siblings, Johnny Hansen, Norma Spellbring and Deloris Moilan.
