LeRoy 'Roy' Rank, 89, of Kimball

KIMBALL — LeRoy Ben “Roy” Rank, 89, of Kimball, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018, at home.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, at the United Church of Christ in Chamberlain. Burial will be in the Vega Cemetery at Kimball.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hickey Funeral Chapel in Chamberlain.  
LeRoy Ben “ Roy” Rank was born September 23, 1929, in Butte County to Harry and Ada (Crist) Rank. His family moved several times during his childhood so he attended various schools in South Dakota. Roy served in the U.S. Marines.  
On June 1, 1956, Roy was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” DuVall at Chamberlain. They began their married life in Brule County and later moved to the Rank Farm in Buffalo County. Three children were born to this union: Ralph, Susan, and Janice.  
Roy farmed on the Rank Family Farm and also ran Rank’s Repair Shop which he continued to do until he was 70 years young. He farmed and ran cattle until the time of his death.  
On August 22, 2009, Roy was united in marriage to Phyllis Schwan and they made their home on the Rank Farm.  
Gratefully sharing his life are his wife, Phyllis of Kimball; three children, Ralph (Kris) Rank of Kimball, Susan (Ross) Tucker of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Janice (Terry) Von Eye of Miller; four stepchildren, Barb (Todd Rahm) of Creswell, Ore., Andy Schwan of Hitchcock, Linda (Kurt) Jacobs of Hitchcock, and Phil Schwan of Gwinner, N.D.; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Melvina Segar of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Rank in Port Orchard, Wash., and Elnita Rank in Fort Thompson.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Betty in 2006; grandson, Ben in 2000; granddaughter, Jolene in 1989; six brothers, Charles (Helen), Harold (Sophie), Ernie (Helen), Vern (Dora), Melvin, and John; three sisters, Florence (Keith) Wood, Grace (Ralph) Foltz, and Sylvia (Harold) Huber; brother-in-law, Gerald Segar; and his parents.
