To the Editor:

My daughter has a collection of those little green Army men, but instead of an assortment of weaponry, they are all in various Yoga poses. Wouldn’t it be great if that were the case in reality? It goes to that Biblical saying about beating our spears into plowshares.

Elected, plus appointed officials (McNamara, in my war) led us down a path of death and maiming. Peace was seldom the outcome, but only more war. War does seem to only beget war.
Diplomacy, compromise and understanding of the other’s needs must be tried before turning to war. Our President seems to be moving in that direction and my hope is that he succeeds. He is not ready for the Nobel Peace Prize and we need to wait and see the results.
I am encouraged by some of the men and women he has helping him and in the case of war, the former military people who know the cost of war. The War to “end all wars” was ‘stumbled’ into; WWII was more diabolical with the Nazi’s. Let us all hope and pray that WWIII will be prevented by building international relationships, talking and compromise.
