To the Editor:
It’s nice to know that Mr. Busch is reading my letters, but he has trouble sometimes with getting things correct. Let’s see if we can help him with the truth.
First of all he said that in my April letter I said that Trump went to East Palestine, Ohio, because he cared about people. False! I said he went there to campaign, and get his face in front of a camera. He was saying how much he cared about the people, and how bad the Biden administration was for not being there at the train derailment.
Let’s go back to the Trump administration, and see how they handled similar accidents. On June 17, 2018 at Princeton, Indiana, 23 railcars derailed, and caused an explosion. People were evacuated for more than one mile.
On January 6, 2019, near Bartow, Georgia, another derailment that evacuated people for a radius of seven miles. Three deputies, and a firefighter were hospitalized for respiratory troubles. Two others were taken to the burn center in Augusta for treatment. Both incidents had the same issue. Donald Trump never showed up at either one of these accidents. There are many more derailments during his term.
I’ve seen a couple articles that stated that neither Trump or any of his officials showed up at any train derailments, even fatal ones as president. Mr. Busch wasn’t that his job?
Another incorrect statement by our friend, and I quote “The Ukraine got themselves into this war; they can get themselves out of it” end of quote. Well, Ukraine had nothing to do with starting this war, it was Putin that invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. The Ukrainians are fighting for their existence, and their homeland.
I say “God Bless Them,” and we should keep them in our thoughts, and prayers.
