To the Editor:
I read recently in The Hill that the Washington Republican Caucus was exploring new punishments for members who did note vote along the dictated party line. Similarly, the Republican Caucus in Pierre requires any Republican legislator to sign a Loyalty and Secrecy Pledge in order to be welcome in the Party Caucus.
No free thinking rebels allowed.
I always thought the elected representatives were there to serve the voters who put them in office.
When did political party loyalty and secrecy supersede that commitment?
You want to take an oath; join the scouts, the military or become a citizen. Other than that, remember who elected you and that you serve them, not some political entity.
