Christmas Lane BINGO is back! Join the Huron Public Library and Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau in a season of Christmas and BINGO!
Participation begins Monday, Nov. 27, and ends Dec. 31.
Grab a BINGO card from the Library or Chamber, or print one online. Load up your car with hot cocoa and revel in the sparkle of holiday lights. Complete BINGO down or across on your card and submit it by Jan. 2, 2024, to the Library, Chamber, or via email. Every card submitted earns you an entry for a chance to win fantastic prizes generously sponsored by Huron businesses. Make your holidays merry and bright by participating in Christmas & Bingo, where festive fun meets the excitement of winning great prizes!
HMS Honors Orchestra
Get ready for a festive musical treat as the talented musicians of the Huron Middle School Honors Orchestra take center stage at the Library on Thursday, Dec. 21, from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
Join them for a delightful performance that promises to fill the air with the spirit of the season. Bring family and friends and make this an afternoon to remember.
Kids’ Korner (Birth-Grade 3)
Happy Holidays! Those at Kids Korner are super excited about the upcoming holiday season. They can’t wait to share the fun with you and your family! They’ve put together a whole month of events that are completely free, so you can enjoy quality time with your loved ones.
The celebrations start on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 1:30 p.m., with the After the Bell Early Release party for grades K-12.
On Friday, Dec. 8, at 3:30 p.m., the Dinosaur Club is going to have a blast. Then Saturday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m., you and your family can meet Santa Claus at the Holly Jolly Christmas Party!
They have something in store for everyone, including Unplugged Gaming for grades K-12 on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m., and a Polar Express Movie and Hot Cocoa Bar Party for families on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. They’re also offering Boredom Busters during school vacation, and an Open House to give you a sneak peek at what’s coming in 2024.
New offerings this year include the Wrapped Book 12 Days of Christmas kits! And let’s not forget about the little ones! Baby Jiggles will be playing together on Mondays Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 at 10 a.m.
Tweens / Teens (Grades 4-12)
• Dec. 1 from 4 to 5 p.m., DIY Bouncy Balls*
• Dec. 4 at 4:00-5:00 pm-Design elements to make a tree spin*
• Dec. 13 at 4:00-5:00 pm- One little elf has lost his shelf, can you build him a new one?*
Crafts:
• Dec. 5 at 4 to 5 p.m.: Get in the Christmas spirit by creating a Christmas banner to decorate your home/room!*
• Dec. 21 Come to work on a diamond art clock and register to win the final project!
• Dec. 22 at 4 to 5 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 1 to 2:30 p.m.: Attention all Perler bead enthusiasts! Here’s your opportunity to let your creativity flow freely and craft to your heart’s content.
Gifts:
• Dec. 12 at 4 to 5:15 p.m.: Make a gift in a jar to be given for a Christmas treat.*
• Dec. 20 at 4 to 5 p.m., make two Christmas gifts to give your friends/family or teachers.*
Activities:
• Dec. 15 at 7 to 9 p.m., Movie on the Ceiling, watch “Elemental,” while laying on the floor, rated PG.

Adults
• Registration for Adult Craft classes held on Jan. 8 at 1 and 6 p.m. and Jan. 25 at 6 p.m., will open on Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. Attendees will create two flour sack kitchen towels using the color transfer technique.
• Dec. 4 is Monday Movies at 1 and 6 p.m. showing: “All Mine to Give,” (1957) A captivating true story of resilience and family. This movie follows the journey of a Scottish couple who, in the 1850s, turn dreams into reality in the heart of Eureka, Wis. Witness their unwavering determination, the growth of their family, and the flourishing boat-building business. However, as their eldest turns 12, tragedy strikes, testing the family’s strength. The narrative unfolds as this young soul shoulders an unimaginable burden with grace and resilience.
Adult Book Clubs
• Purposeful Retirement Book Club meets on Dec. 5 and 19 at 6 p.m. (final meeting). This book club is for adults who are near retirement or thinking about retirement. It will invite attendees to think about retirement in new and exciting ways! Books are available at the library circulation desk.
• Mystery Book Club meets on Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “Behind Closed Doors” by B.A. Paris.
• Senior Center Book Club meets on Dec. 15 at 10:15 a.m. to discuss “In Five Years” by Rebecca Serle. This group meets at the Senior Center located at 290 Seventh St. S.W.
• Around the World Book Club meets on Dec. 21 at noon to discuss “Mr. Dickens and His Carol” by Samantha Siva.
The library will open at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 for staff training, will be closed on Dec. 25 for the Christmas Holiday, and on Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
