Library to offer lessons for boomwhacker and ukulele

HURON — The Public Libraries Association through the Inclusive Internship Initiative helped Huron Public Library hire an intern, Katie Schoenfelder, for the summer.

Schoenfelder was assigned to create a program to benefit the library and the community. The intern was challenged to combine their interests with a library need to create a beneficial program. The intern has selected to organize two programs. One to introduce basic boomwhacker skills and the second ukuleles.

The classes will be held Tuesday, Aug. 10 and Wednesday, Aug. 11.

The boomwhacker classes, open to all ages, and will be held from 4:30 to 5 p.m. The ukulele classes will be from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., and is open to fourth-graders thru adults.

Instruments will be provided for the classes and you must attend both days. Music teachers Kristi Kattner and Tricia Larson, will be teaching the classes. Registration is required at www.library.huronsd.com.
