SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Linda Catherine Van Der Veur, 67, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a faithful and conscientious Christian woman and believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
A celebration of her life will be shared with family and friends at a future date.
Linda was born July 9, 1950, in Miller to Virgil W. and Virginia C. (Goebel) Biddle. She lived and attended school in Miller through her junior year of high school, moved to Pierre prior to her senior year, and graduated from Riggs Senior High School at Pierre in 1968. She had a strong commitment to education, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mary-Hardin Baylor College, Belton, Texas in 1974. She majored in English with a minor in Classical Piano. Linda maintained a keen interest in music and art, continuing to play piano and paint landscapes throughout her lifetime.
She developed a special interest and expertise in teaching, becoming a certified teacher in Texas, Michigan, and Utah. She was particularly adept at working with juvenile and adult offenders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; many aunts and uncles; and relatives.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Nicole) Jones; three grandchildren, Grayson, Charlotte, and Hazel; brothers, Michael (Maria) Biddle of Corpus Christi, Texas, and David (Lorraine) Biddle of Midlothian, Va.; along with many relatives; former spouses; colleagues; friends; and prior students.
