Lions Scarecrow Festival winners

HURON — The 24th annual Lions and Lioness Scarecrow Festival began Thursday and concluded Sunday afternoon with an awards ceremony in Campbell Park.
There were 22 entries this year, and $660 was awarded to youth winners. Adult winners receive a traveling trophy.
Judges Mike Lyon, Doug Dutehoeffer and Donna Thompson. The Huron Lions and Lioness thank everyone who came to view the Scarecrows and donated time and services to create them.
Winners in the preschool to fifth-grade traditional category were “CLC Sprouts” by Christian Learning Center, first place, and “Color Your World” by Holy Trinity School, second.
In the humorous division, Pumpkin Seed Daycare won first with it’s “101 Dalmations” display, and The Jungle OST Program took second with “Fred George.”

In the sixth- to 12th-grade traditional division, Beadle Bops 4-H Club took first with it’s “Hit a Home Run” display, Schmitz Stripes took second; and VanderHock Stripes placed third.
In the humorous category, Boy Scout Troop 151 took first place with “Scoutmaster Revenge;” Kings Stripes took second with “Stickman,” and Kissner Stripes placed third with “Pumpkin Farmer.”
There were ties in several of the adult categories. In a tie for first place, each business will display the traveling trophy for six months.
Tied for first in the adult traditional division were “Selfie Booth” by Dakota Provisions, and “Brush Them All” by Dakota Family Dentistry.
Second place went to Huron Regional Medical Center for its “We’ve Got You Covered” mammogram display, and third place went to “Corpes Cooking 101” by The Plains.
Winning the adult humorous category were “Thanks a Minion” by Violet Tschetter Memorial Home, first; “Dairy Queen” by Dairy Queen, second; and tied for third were, “Troll into Coborn’s for Savings” by Coborn Foods and “Oh the Places You Go” by Huron Community Campus.
Receiving a plaque for winning the People’s Choice awards were Pumpkin Seed Daycare for “101 Dalmations” and “Thanks a Minion” by Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.

Dakota Provisions scarecrow entry called “Selfie Booth” was among first place winners in the 24th annual Lions and Lioness Clubs Scarecrow Festival that concluded with an awards ceremony on Sunday in Campbell Park. Many people took advantage of the decorative display to take family pictures.
