MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Lloyd Otto Rowland, 81, of Minneapolis, Minn., passed away Friday, July 31, 2020, in Sioux Falls.


Funeral services were held Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with Eastern Star service.


Lloyd was born January 4, 1939, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Esther Myrtle (Ludtke) and Lloyd Wilbur Rowland.


Lloyd spent his early years in Oakland, California. He graduated from Webster High School in May of 1957, and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls.


He married Anita Beth Knudson on January 25, 1959. To this union three daughters were born:  Suzanne Yvonne, Roxanne Rae, and Rhonda Marie. On June 5, 1973, he married Delores Anderson. To this union a daughter, Jacqueline Kay Tschetter (Greg Olsen) was born.
On September 23, 2001, he married Grace Williams Bick.


Lloyd worked as an agent for Parks Insurance in Sioux Falls for over fifty years. Lloyd also worked as a custodian for the University of South Dakota for over 10 years being honored as the employee of the month in September of 2008. He was also employed at both the Huron and Vermillion High Schools as a custodian.

Lloyd was very active in Lions, receiving his ten year pin in 2016, and The Order of the Eastern Star.  Lloyd joined the Masonic Lodge in Vermillion in 2017, He also taught Sunday school in Sioux Falls, Huron, and Vermillion.


He is survived by his wife, Grace; his ex-wife and special friend, Dee; four daughters, Suzanne Yvonne (Alan) Gillette of Grand Bay, Ala., Roxanne Rae (Hugh) Rice of Crestview, Fla., Rhonda Marie (James) Oldson of Theodore, Ala., and Jacqueline Kay Tschetter (Greg Olsen) of Huron; one brother, Lester ( Loxie) of Wentworth; a sister, Gayle Naessig of Newark, Ohio; and  cousins, Kathryn Ludtke Khajah, Rolfh Ludtke, and Gretchen Syhre; grandchildren, Jeramie (Christy) Childress, Marie (Ronald) Lackey, Vanessa (Roger) Poteet, Christopher (Dana) Gillette, Cody (Brittany) Gillette, Ashley Lambert, Patrick and Jacob Rice, Kassidy (Brett) Boutwell, Ronald (Melissa Upchurch) Diegan III; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; step children, Charlotte Fredricksen, Alice Hahn, Alan and Kip Gilette, Ron (Kazy) Ross, Leo (Susan) Ross, and Valorie (Chad) Hilde.


He was preceded in death by his parents; uncle, Marvin; first wife, Anita; brother, Bernard; sister, Marlene VanDenBerg; and his uncles, Laurence and Roy Ludtke.
