SILVER BAY, Minn. — Lois Meyer, 93, of Silver Bay, Minn. and formerly of Huron, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Carefree Living in Silver Bay.
Her memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
Lois Jeanette Mattke was born March 14, 1925, in Huron to Albert and Caroline (Haffner) Mattke. After graduating from Huron High School she became a teacher like her mother, and taught in the same one-room school (Cain Creek). She taught until she married Everett Timm March 28, 1946.
She and Everett resided and raised their children on a farm near Huron until Everett’s life was taken in a farming accident November 4, 1966. After Everett’s passing she went back to her love of teaching and became a teacher’s aide in the Huron School system and retired several years later.
She was later united in marriage to Willard (Bill) Meyer June 3, 1979. She enjoyed teaching, cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards, dancing, and traveling. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Delvin Timm of Mesa, Ariz., Verla (Bill) Bundschuh of Two Harbors, Minn., and Loris Schmit of Huron; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Norma Cecil and Jerald Mattke.
She was preceded in death by both her husbands; her parents; brothers, Edward and Delvin Mattke; and great-grandchildren Morgan Krattenmaker, Colten Bloom, and Alex Bundschuh.
