WALTERBORO, S.C. — Marcene (Strivens) Rigsby, 64, of Walterboro, S.C., passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Her memorial service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 7, at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Buriel will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Redfield.
Marcene was born September 17, 1952, in Plainview, Neb. to Don and Lillian Strivens. She attended school in Omaha, Neb. and Faulkton, graduating from Redfield High School in 1970. She graduated from St. Luke’s School of X-ray Technology in 1972 at Aberdeen  and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was united in marriage to Perry Haaland in 1972. They lived in New Orleans from 1973 to 1977.
She moved to Miami, Fla. where she worked at Doctor’s Hospital. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Miami in 1983. She married the love of her life, J. Craig Rigsby July 10, 1982. They moved to Walterboro, S.C. in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Craig in 1994; her mother, Lillian; and her brother-in-law, Larry.  
She is survived by her father, Don Strivens; siblings, Darrell (Kristi) Strivens, Louise (Tom) Auchampach, Lois Bealmear, Doris (Dave) Grunewaldt, Marcia (Kim) Benning, and Gloria (Greg) Brosius; 15 nieces and nephews; and 25 great-nieces and nephews.
