ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa — Marie Postma, 87, of Rock Rapids, formerly of Doon, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Rock Rapids Health Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 12, at Doon United Reformed Church. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery of Doon. Visitation, with the family present, will be Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.
Marie Postma was born June 13, 1929, in Maurice, Iowa to John Peter and Maria (Beukhof) DeBruin. She was united in marriage to Gilbert “Gib” Postma October 13, 1949. The couple made their home in Doon until moving to Rock Rapids in 2014.
She is survived by her husband; children, Rod (Joella) Postma of Doon, Iowa, Janice Den Besten of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Doug (LaVonne) Postma of Rock Valley, Iowa, Glenn (Rhonda) Postma of Doon, Iowa, Dwayne (Sharon) Postma of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Bud (Kelly) Postma of Madison, and Mike Postma of Huron; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Helene Niemeyer of Doon, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Postma; and siblings, Jen (Hank) Teunissen, Clara (Dan) DeVries, Tom (Martha) DeBruin, Albert (Henrietta) DeBruin, Pete DeBruin, Jake DeBruin, Garrett DeBruin, Pete (Irene) Rietsma, Heinie (Etta) DeBruin, and infant sister, Marie DeBruin.
